THE SAINT PAUL GRAND ROUND

– AN 8-80 VITALITY INITIATIVE VISIONARY PROJECT –
to develop 30 miles of parkway connecting neighborhoods across the entire city with scenic parkways and off-street bicycle and pedestrian paths. The Saint Paul Grand Round will increase walking and biking connections to local businesses, help calm traffic in residential neighborhoods, and connect neighborhoods across Saint Paul. It will be a city-wide asset that will attract residents, employees, and visitors of all ages for years to come.

We are currently immersed in the design process for the Grand Round.  Thank you to the community stakeholders that provided input at our various pop-up meetings, open houses, and via the web over the course of the summer.  We are using that input to inform a draft master plan for the Grand Round. We anticipate that the plan will be released in late fall.

Saint Paul’s 8-80 Vitality Initiative promotes economic development through investments that enliven the public realm by connecting residents and visitors with the city, promoting walking and bicycling, and creating great public spaces. The initiative is inspired by the work of 8-80 Cities, which promotes livable cities where people from age 8 to age 80 are safe, invigorated, and welcomed by their environment. The 8-80 Vitality Initiative includes the implementation of the city’s 8-80 Vitality Fund, an investment focused on significant improvements in infrastructure and public spaces.
